More than 59,000 acres of taungya paddy and lowland paddy grow in three districts of Chin State

About 78,038 acres of paddy are targeted to grow in districts of Chin State in 2021-22 cultivation season. So far, about 59,832 acres have been cultivated, which is covered over 76 per cent of the projected acres.

More than 59,000 acres of taungya paddy and lowland paddy are grown in three districts of Chin State, according to the Chin State Agriculture Department.
“Chin state grows taungya paddy species. But the taungya paddy is mostly grown in Chin State. Currently, more than 36,000 acres of such paddy and over 23,000 acres of normal paddy have been grown in Chin state,” said U Aung Myo Oo, the director of Chin State Agriculture Department.
During the 2021-22 planting season, about 36,769 acres of taungya and 23,063 acres of lowland paddy have been cultivated in Haka, Falam and Matupi districts in Chin State.
About 6,410 acres of terraced paddy and 7,448 acres of lowland paddy have been cultivated in Haka district, 5,560 acres of taungya paddy and 11,933 acres of lowland paddy in Falam district and 24,699 acres of taungyapaddy and 3,682 acres of lowland paddy in Matupi district.
