Illegal teak, utensils and electronics seized in states/regions

Officials confiscate illegal teak logs.

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
A combined inspection team led by the Department of Forest conducted an investigation under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 28 March.
A total of 10.2654 tonnes of illegal timbers (estimated at K401,030) was seized in the Okkan forest reserve, Taikkyi Township in Yangon North District and action is taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, under the management of the Customs Department, a customs inspection team on duty at the Myanmar Industrial Port Customs Inspection Station conducted a surprise check and cosmetics without FDA Certificate (estimated at K10,582,192), and consumer goods and home appliances that do not comply with the import declaration ID (estimated at K20,360,000) were seized.
Similarly, a combined inspection team led by the Department of Forest of the Bago Region conducted an inspection under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 30 March.
A total of 33.9138 tonnes of illegal timbers (estimated at K6,864,410) was seized in Yedashe Township and Minhla Township in Bago Region and action is taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, a total of eight arrests were made on three consecutive days and the estimated value is K38,207,632, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
