The Myanmar Fisheries Federation, the Aqua Myanmar and Fish/Shrimp Diagnostic Laboratory have taught the farmers the basics of fish/shrimp disease diagnosis and treatment for four days at the Myanmar Fisheries Federation in Yangon. The certificates of achievements were awarded yesterday evening.
Dr Kay Lwin Tun, Dean of the Department of Zoology, Yangon University, taught theoretical knowledge and practical subjects to 6 fish/shrimp farmers from Ayeyawady and Yangon Regions who were practising fish farming. The purpose of the training was to prevent disease and loss during the breeding period from hatching to commercial age, improve the quality of production, and detect the disease in the fish/shrimp hatcheries in advance.
The training also covered ways to practically diagnose diseases of fish/shrimp and ways to solve the difficulties in breeding, changing water, food price volatility, lack of access to specific shrimp food, lack of access to technology, and food and diseases which need special care.
That is the first batch of the training, and more trainees will be admitted to provide more comprehensive teaching of the subjects and skills, which will help to do year-round breeding skills. It is reported that the training was conducted free of charge. — Nyein Thu (MNA)/GNLM
