Macadamia seedlings, equipment provided to farmers in line with Mekong-Lanchang Fund

Kachin State Chief Minister U Khat Htein Nan, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi and State Cabinet Ministers attended a ceremony to supply Macadamia seedlings and equipment to farmers at Nawngnan Rubber Farm in Myitkyina, through the Mekong-Lancang Fund on 1 June.
The Kachin State Chief Minister and the deputy minister urged local farmers and departmental personnel to thrive the plants.
Next, 14,820 macadamia saplings, two crushers for nuts of plants from 100 acres of farmlands, and one peeling machine were given to the farmers.
At Myitkyina Cocoon Farm, they called for distribution of quality cocoons to silkworm farmers, systematic cultivation of mulberry plants and maintenance, farming and production of cocoons and creation of jobs for local people.
They visited Super One Dairy Cow Farm and Chan Dairy Cow Farm and stressed the need to seek necessary techniques for improvement of livestock farms, use inputs and emphasize increased production of milk and dairy products benefiting the farmers.
At Washaung Diversion Weir in Waingmaw Township, they instructed officials to form water user groups (WUG) and Water Users Association (WUA) in Kachin State and provide sufficient water to farmlands. —MNA
