Over 74 tonnes of illegal timbers confiscated in Nay Pyi Taw, regions/states

The Forest Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is implementing various ways and means including the community monitoring and reporting system (CMRS) to curb illegal timber and forest products.
According to the data gathered from the relevant forest departments, a total of 74.9754 tonnes of illegal timbers — 27.3208 tonnes of teak, 21.0198 tonnes of hardwood and 26.6348 tonnes of others-were confiscated in regions/states and Nay Pyi Taw between 11 and 17 July. Eighteen suspects were captured along with 18 vehicles, the department stated. — MNA
