Myanmar U-18 Women’s team make it to semi-finals despite losing to Australia

The final group matches of the ASEAN Women’s U-18 Championship were held on 29 July at the Athletic Stadium in Palamban, Indonesia.
The Myanmar team played against the Australian team in the group match, and the Myanmar team lost by 1-2.
Team Myanmar was able to advance to the semi-finals from second place in the group with six points as they won two consecutive group matches. Head Coach Daw Thet Thet Win sidelined most of the key players in the match against Australia.
The Australian team took the lead in the 3rd minute of the game, but in the 23rd minute of the game, Zin Moe Pyae scored a beautiful equalizer for the Myanmar team through a free kick.
In the second half, both teams made substitutions, and the Australian team scored a winning goal in the 65th minute, ending the match at 2-1.
In Group B, the Australian team scored nine points, and the Myanmar team advanced to the semi-finals with six points.
In the semi-final match to be held on 2 August, the Myanmar U-18 team will play against the group champion of Group A.
In Group A, Viet Nam and Thailand have good prospects to reach the semi-finals. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
