Coordination meeting on Myanmar-China tourism promotion held

Union Minister Dr Htay Aung of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism attended the “Myanmar-China Tourism Promotion Coordinating Meeting” that was held yesterday afternoon at Nila Hall of the ministry in a hybrid system.
The Union Minister said as Myanmar is attracting Chinese tourists with the jade market it is necessary to make an all-round effort via news media for Myanmar-China tourism promotion. In the nature of the tourism industry, all sectors are interrelated, so cooperation is needed with respective sectors in promoting the existing market, he added.
The ministry opened Chinese language courses and related courses. Now is the open season in addition to the Chinese New Year. As Chinese tourists can visit the country, private associations and entrepreneurs should coordinate with previous partner organizations in China, the Union minister urged.
Afterwards, the president of the Myanmar Tourism Federation and attendees discussed the points that should be prepared in advance for the promotion of Myanmar-China tourism such as preparations for destinations and tourist attractions, entry visas, flights from both countries, health issues and travel spending.
Present at the meeting were directors-general, officials and language-in-charge personnel. The Myanmar Tourism Federation president and officials, the Myanmar-China Friendship Association (Central) chairperson, the chairman of the Myanmar-China Chamber of Commerce, the chairman of the Myanmar-China Cooperation Association, the Dehong Dai Sub-Provincial Chamber of Commerce (Myanmar representative office) in charge and representatives, responsible persons from airlines, the Chinese International Language Centre principal and invitees participated online.
This meeting aims to revive the Chinese tourism market, which is one of the world’s largest outbound tourism markets, in order to increase the number of international travellers including China. — MNA/KZL
