UMFCCI warns associated organizations, entrepreneurs to prepare in advance for consequences of natural disasters

The Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) has issued a notice for associated organizations, entrepreneurs, and farmers to take necessary measures in advance to prevent the rise of foodstuff and medicine prices, speculation, shortages of goods in the market, which are the consequences of a natural disaster.
In addition, the related associations and traders have been informed that they can contact the federation in time in order to be able to make the necessary preparations and enlist cooperation in the event of an emergency.
According to the forecast of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology at 10:30 am MST yesterday, the low-pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea persists. It is likely to intensify into a depression around 9 May 2023, continue to move northward, and likely intensify into a cyclonic storm over the Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea around 10 May 2023.
It is reported that strong winds will hit Myanmar’s Delta region, the Gulf of Mottama, the Rakhine coast, and the offshore seas. There may be large waves, and wind speed can reach up to 80 to 90 miles per hour. — TWA/CT
