51st Asian Clearing Union-ACU BODs meeting held

CBM Governor Daw Than Than Swe and the vice-governor join the 51st ACU Board of Directors Meeting virtually.

Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Daw Than Than Swe, together with Vice-Governor U Zaw Myint Naing and Director-General Daw Khaing Shwe Wah, virtually attended the 51st Asian Clearing Union-ACU Board of Directors Meeting held in Teheran, Iran, yesterday afternoon.
Attendees at the meeting were the representatives from ACU member countries —India, Pakistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan and Maldives. In addition, representatives from Russia, Afghanistan, Belarus and the Islamic Development Bank attended the meeting as observers.
During the meeting, the attendees made mutual discussions on the economic development and future prospects of each member state, the ACU’s undertakings and accomplishments in the 2021-2022 financial year, the cross-border payments and further development of central bank digital currency innovations which are recommended by ACU Expert Committee, the implementation of local currency payments between the ACU countries, ensuring and strengthening of the ACU system. — MNA/MKKS
