Illegal consumer goods, foodstuffs, cosmetics and vehicles confiscated

The on-duty teams under the supervision of the Customs Department impounded 720 kilogrammes of belts (worth K2,721,600) and two kinds of goods (worth K9,357,894) including 320 quartz slabs that exceeded 61 days of VPA from two containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint on 2 June, two kinds of goods (worth K11,049,043) including a Sencon Semi Auto Enamel Rater that exceeded 61 days of VPA from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk) and 3,600 bottles of Justus beer (worth K3 million) without official documents at the Yepu permanent checkpoint on 5 June. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Action on a tip-off, a combined team under the management of the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force confiscated 51 kinds of cosmetics (worth K321,237,096) including 20,760 PJN hair colour without official documents at warehouse 2 in the Toepywagyi compound in Amarapura township on 4 June. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
An on-duty team captured three kinds of goods (worth K7.09 million) including 9,000 boxes of Lactasoy without official documents from a Nissan Diesel vehicle (worth about K30 million) at the Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine) on 5 June. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Therefore, seven arrests (estimated value of K384,455,633) were made on 2, 4 and 5 June, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
