Timely repair to power lines damaged by Mocha in Rakhine State

Due to the Mocha storm, 11 kV power lines, 11/0.4 kV substations, and 400-volt power lines were damaged, including 230 kV An-MraukU-Ponnagyun power line, 66 kV power lines and 33 kV power lines were damaged in Sittway District in northern Rakhine State, including Sittway, Maungtaw t, and MraukU Districts.
As a result of the damage to these power lines, electricity was cut off in the towns of Sittway, Kyauktaw, Minbya, Rathedaung, Buthidaung, Maungtaw, Myebon, and Pauktaw.
The Ministry of Electric Power has sent teams to repair power lines to ensure the fastest access to electricity in Sittway and the northern townships of Rakhine State.
Since all the preparation works of the 230 kV An-MraukU-Ponnagyun power line were completed on 7 June, the power was sent from the Ponnagyun substation to the main transformer, and from that transformer, the Ponnagyun-Sittway No 1 power line was able to start distributing power to Sittway and Ponnagyun.
In addition, along Main Road, and the roads of bus terminal-Meesatgyi roundabout, Meesatgyi roundabout-clock tower, clock tower-Biluma Bridge, Biluma Bridge-Satyoekya Bridge in Sittway, the lamp-posts were lit using 500 kVA generators from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm starting from 25 May.
Additional charging points have been arranged at bus terminal, Meesatgyi roundabout, in front of the Lawkananda Pagoda, in front of the Township Revenue Office, and Government Office, Cultural Museum, Junction of the Airport and starting point of the Biluma Bridge so that locals can use phones, electric lamps, and other battery-charged electronic devices. — MNA/KZL
