59 new bodybuilders vie for spots in SEA, International Championships

Fifty-nine aspiring bodybuilders showcased their prowess in the preliminary selection competition for the 18th Southeast Asian Bodybuilding and International Bodybuilding Competition slated for 2024. The event unfolded at the Myanmar Convention Centre (MCC) hall in Yangon on 28 January.
Competitors battled various weight classes, including 55 kilogrammes, 60 kilos, 65 kilos, 70 kilos, and 75 kilos for men’s bodybuilding and a category for those weighing 75 kilos and above. Moreover, divisions such as Men’s Athletic Physique (up to 170 centimetres and over 170 cm), National Sports Physique (up to 170 cm and over 170 cm), Men’s Fitness Physique (open category), Women’s Athletic Physique (open category), and Women’s Model Physique (up to 160 cm and over 160 cm) added diversity to the contest.
Judges, comprising officials from the Myanmar Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation and the Vice-Mayor of the Yangon City Development Committee, meticulously evaluated participants across various categories to identify top talents.
Notably, Myanmar’s previous outing at the 17th Southeast Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Competition in Batam, Indonesia, yielded commendable results, with the nation clinching one gold, three silver, and three bronze. — TWA/KZW
