“The market for Myanmar traditional food- jaggery and slab sugar- is good. Demand and supply are non-stop. As there are many buyers, we sell a lot. We distribute from Pakokku. Jaggery is mainly used for the snack industry and desserts. Because there are many users, we sell a lot. Some redistribute, and that helps sales,” said Ma Than Than Maw Jaggery Retail and Wholesale from Pakokku.
According to its business circle, jaggery and brown slab sugar are mainly produced in Yesakyo, Myaing and NyaungU townships.
The wholesale price of a viss of sweetener jaggery is K5,000 to K7,000, and dessert jaggery is about K6,000. The retail price of brown slab sugar is K5,000 per viss, and the wholesale price is K4,500. — Thit Taw/ZN/ED
