Myanmar Coffee Association to offer intermediate coffee processing, CQI intro PHP class in PyinOoLwin

The Myanmar Coffee Association (MCA) will organize the Coffee Processing Intermediate Course and CQI Intro PHP class at the MCA Knowledge Center and MCG coffee factory in PyinOoLwin in late February.
These intensive courses will offer know-how and standards of coffee processing to meet international standards for coffee beans, processing methods and its products through practical and technical approaches.
The class CQI Intro PHP 2/2024 (Coffee Quality Institute – CQI Introduction to Post-Harvest Processing) that will be conducted on 24 and 25 February at the MCG’s factory in PyinOoLwin will share the same curriculum (CQI Introduction to Post-Harvest Processing) offered at the US’s Coffee Quality Institute. The trainees will receive the completion certificate for the CQI Post-Harvest Processing Class. The class fee is K450,000.
Additionally, the second batch of Coffee Processing Intermediate Course will be opened at MCA Knowledge Centre and MCG coffee factory from 26 to 29 February 2024, with fees of K600,000. Members of the MCA who have paid an annual membership fee can save 50,000 at a discount.
It will also cover the history of coffee, coffee processing, basic principles and practices of coffee standards, influencing factors to coffee processing, characteristics of ripe coffee beans, methods of coffee harvesting and benefits, analysis of coffee bean sample and quality control, device to measure coffee moisture and refractometer to test sugar content and tests for coffee ripening, and coffee processing methods from harvesting, processing, roasting to brewing.
Moreover, technical and practical approaches to the Wet Processing Method, Dry Processing Method and Honey Processing Method, index scores during step-by-step coffee processing from ripe coffee beans, the ideal ratio for coffee, speciality coffee, coffee fermentation -microbe to coffee flavour and yeast inoculation introduction, requirements for coffee processing and post-processing practices will be unveiled as well.
Those courses are suitable for those engaged in coffee processing who would like to expand their knowledge of coffee processing systematically and who are willing to be involved in coffee institutions or commercial businesses.
