Confiscation of illegal items; timbers, foodstuffs, industrial materials and vehicles

On 9 February, the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force confiscated 5.086 tonnes of illegal teak, valued at K9,612,918, near the Su San filling station in Mingaladon township. This enforcement was carried out under the Forest Law.
The following day, during inspections, the task force intercepted several vehicles carrying illegal goods. Among them were a Sunlong bus and a Mitsubishi Canter vehicle, transporting various items, including 240 bottles of Ensure Gold Vanilla and 30 bags of Dry White Fungus, without official document. At the Nyaungkhashay x-ray station, a Howo tractor head with a trailer was found to be carrying undeclared goods, such as 1,620 bottles of foliar fertilizer solution and 1,500 bags of Miaow crackers. Illegal teak and other timbers were also seized in Bago and Thayawady districts. Actions were conducted under Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
On 11 February, further confiscations took place in Toungoo, Nyaunglebin, and Nattalin districts, resulting in the seizure of illegal teak, hardwoods, and other timbers valued at K2,985,196. These enforcement efforts were also carried out under the Forest Law.
According to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, 15 arrests were made on three consecutive days from 9 and 11 February, with an estimated value of K242.217 million. — MNA/MKKS
