Electric vehicles have access to charging stations on highways

EV charging stations will be installed on highways across the country, according to the Operation of Electric Vehicles and Infrastructure Implementation Committee.

The EV charging stations will be installed on highways such as Yangon-Mandalay Highway, Yangon-Pyay, Yangon-Pathein, Phayagyi-Thaton-Mawlamyine, Meiktila-Kyaukpadaung-NyaungU, Meiktila-Taunggyi, and Mandalay-PyinOoLwin-Lashio roads.

Currently, the EV charging stations are being operated in Yangon and Mandalay in public areas such as shopping malls, resorts, religious buildings, and highway bus terminals.

Similarly, these stations will be launched in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, and Mandalay, connecting them with the urban road network system facilities, according to the committee.

A total of 1,888 electric vehicles and light trucks have been registered in 2023.—ASH/MKKS
