MoI families organize novitiation ceremony

Family members of the Ministry of Information organized an ordination and novitiation ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn and wife, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint and wife, Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung, departmental officials and wives, staff families and invitees.
At the event, artiste Dein Daung and gold medallist Zaw Lin carried out the ceremonial procedures as per Myanmar customary law, to the accompaniment of a traditional Myanmar orchestra.
Then, the monk-to-be and novice-to-be, staff and guests headed to Maravijaya Buddha Image, and the novice-to-be to Ywatawshin shrine in Shwenatha ward.
Lunch was served to all the attendees, including monk-to-be and novice-to-be.
The Union minister and wife and guests were also present at the monasteries while the monk-to-be and novice-to-be had their heads shaved, begging for permits to undergo ordination and novitiation and investing them with robes and occasions for girls who entered nunhood.
The ordination event and offerings to Sayadaws and monks will be on 23 March, and the donors will donate for the day meal.
The novitiation ceremony of the Ministry of Information includes 48 monks, novices and nuns. — MNA/KTZH
