The Myanmar Automated Cargo Clearance System (MACCS) start-up ceremony was held yesterday at No 2 Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge in Tachilek. Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Maung Maung Win, Shan State government Economic Affairs Minister U Khun Thein Maung and departmental officials, import and export entrepreneurs, officials from the Department of Customs of Thailand in Mae Sai, and invitees attended.
The deputy minister highlighted that MACCS was implemented in 2013 and was able to be used in the Yangon area in 2016. In 2018, Myawady continued to expand access to border areas with a large amount of trade and in 2022, it was expanded to be used in Muse and Chinshwehaw.
As MACCS has started to be used in Tachilek from today, it will further develop the trade sector. He added that the Ministry of Planning and Finance is constantly pushing to use modern technologies in conducting trade activities and implement better trade processes in accordance with international standards.
Exports from Myanmar to Thailand and imports from Thailand to Myanmar can be processed through MACCS, and bilateral trading will become faster and more dynamic.
Later, the deputy minister and party launched the use of MACCS in the Tachilek border and inspected export and import verification operations using MACCS. — MNA/TS
