Myanmar and Chinese delegates convened a meeting at the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) office in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on 3 April, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting discussed Myanmar’s involvement in the trade and industry forum and summits that will take place in Guangxi this year.
Consul-General of Myanmar in Nanning Daw Khaing Su Lin and CCPIT Guangxi Committee Chairperson Ms Yang Yanyan led the meeting.
The consul-general reaffirmed Myanmar’s commitment to boosting bilateral cooperation across many sectors, including the economy and trade, in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era. She also pledged the Consulate-General Office’s efforts to join in the Chinese-ASEAN Business Investment Summit (CABIS) in association with the 21st China-ASEAN Expo.
Ms Yang Yanyan encouraged Myanmar to participate in a forum to settle trade disputes, an industrial forum besides CABIS, a round-table dialogue between State leaders of ASEAN countries and CEOs from China, and the China-ASEAN Legal Forum.
They also talked about the status and prospects of boosting Myanmar’s broken rice, cotton, traditional medicine and fruit exports to Guangxi. — ASH/NT
