Ceremony to honour people involved in fundraising events for Mocha victims

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn speaks on the honouring event for those involved in fundraising activities for Mocha victims yesterday in Yangon.

The ceremony to honour people who were involved in fundraising activities for Cyclone Mocha-affected people was held at Sky Star Hotel in Yangon yesterday.
The charity concert of artistes from the movie, music and theatrical industries to raised funds for Mocha victims was held on 2, 3 and 4 June at the National Theatre in Yangon.
Moreover, the Mocha fundraising football matches of Movie FC, Music FC, Old Star FC and Forever FC were also played at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon on 16 and 17 June.
The stadium was crowded with fans and they also made donations. The artistes will soon go to Rakhine State to donate the cash received from fundraising events.
Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and regional ministers, patrons, chairpersons, vice-chairpersons and officials, members of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization, Myanmar Music Association (Central), Central Myanmar Theatrical Association and Myanmar Comedians Association, the people who are involved in rehabilitation work for cyclone-affected people and about 300 guests attended the ceremony.
First of all, the ceremony was opened by screening the documentary video of activities conducting rehabilitation tasks, supervision of senior officials, measures of ministries concerned, donation of local/foreign donors, comfort of artistes to storm victims in storm-hit areas, fundraising events and other collective response to natural disaster.
Afterwards, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn delivered a speech highlighting the current rehabilitation processes in Rakhine State and the participation of people and artistes in relief and rehabilitation processes and expressed his willingness to work together for the interests of the country and people in the future. Then, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein expressed a word of thanks.
Moreover, officials of Myanmar Motion Picture Organization, Myanmar Music Association (Central), Central Myanmar Theatrical Association, Myanmar Comedians Association and the organizing committee for the Mocha fundraising football match and music concert also expressed words of thanks.
After the ceremony, the Union minister and the regional chief minister cordially greeted the artistes, former national football players and attendees. — MNA/KTZH
