Confiscations of illegal items: Timbers, foodstuffs and vehicles

On 1 March, a total of 2.878 tonnes of illegal timber worth K382,974 was seized in Yekyi Township and Maubin Township. This enforcement action was carried out under the Forest Law.
On 2 March, combined teams supervised by the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force impounded two Toyota HiAce vans (approximately worth K40 million) heading to Yangon from Myawady. These vans were carrying four types of goods valued at K4.06 million without official documents at the Kali checkpoint on the outskirts of Bago Township. Additionally, a Nissan Diesel tractor head with a trailer (estimated value of K75 million), travelling from Thamanya to Yangon, was intercepted. It was carrying 10,800 boxes of Lactasoy soy milk valued at K15 million without official documents at the Shwethanlwin tollgate in Phayagyi. These actions were conducted under Customs procedures.
During inspections on 3 March, the combined team confiscated a Mitsubishi Fuso truck (estimated value of K30 million) carrying 12,000 bottles of Carabao energy drink and 30,000 packages of Nabati wafers valued at K17.5 million without official documents near Kamawkasin village in Hpa-an Township. This action was taken under Customs procedures.
Additionally, on the same day, the combined teams seized 26,400 bottles of Sponsor energy drinks valued at K22 million without official documents from seven warehouses in Kengtung Township. They also confiscated illegal timber weighing 13 tonnes valued at K7.8 million in Leshi Township. These actions were taken under Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 19 arrests were made over three consecutive days from 1 to 3 March, with an estimated value of K211.742 million. — MNA/MKKS
