Coordination meeting discusses environmental, forest and mining sectors

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation held a virtual coordination meeting regarding environmental conservation, forest and mining sectors yesterday.
In his opening remark, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi said Tatmadaw took office after the declaration of the state of emergency and so it needs to carry out the work plans under the instructions of the current government in accordance with the short, mid and long term perspective.
The Union Minister also discussed the delays in implementing plans amid COVID-19 pandemic and better work plans to ease the impacts of country and people.
He then stressed the need to carry out the work plans for the forestry sector in accordance with the forest policy of Myanmar and 30-year national forest master plan, conservation of forest, ecosystem, biodiversity and forest reserve and 10-year district management plan.
He also emphasized the National Environmental Policy, Myanmar Climate Change Policy and Strategy, National Waste Management Strategy and Action Plan and other plans to measure the water and air quality in Nay Pyi Taw and other regions and States, Natural Resources Management Strategy and reorganization of National Environmental Conservation and Climate Change Central Committee.
He then instructed the necessary things for wood production sector without affecting the environment and for the mining sector to be responsible for mining.
