Covid-19 vaccinations begin in Tonzang

The Covid-19 vaccination programme started in Tonzang township general administration department’s meeting hall on 9 August, said U Cho Lin Aung, chairman of Tonzang township management body.
A total of 126 people including 16 departmental staff, five staffs’ members, 14 religious leaders, 55 elders over the age of 65 and above and 14 volunteers and its five family members, four private transport staff and 13 vendors started receiving COVID-19 vaccines while one departmental staff, two volunteers and 23 adults of above 65 years and older were given the vaccine in Cikha sport ground.
A total of 152 people have so far been vaccinated in Tonzang township, it is learnt.
“The COVID-19 vaccination programme has been launched under the national plan. The priority groups will be elders over the age of 65, volunteer from charity organization and its family members, religious leaders, departmental staffs and its family members, private transport staff and vendors. Today, about 152 people are vaccinated. The vaccine is highly effective in preventing COVID-19 infections. Our township received COVID-19 vaccines for 520 people. So far, about 152 people have been administrated and the remaining persons will be vaccinated against COVID-19,” said U Cho Lin Aung.
Tonzang township received 1,020 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. In order to prevent the spreading of COVID-19 in Tonzang, the township general administration department is carrying out awareness campaigns in cooperation with Myanmar Fire Brigade members and the staff from Information and Public Relations Department.—Lulay/GNLM
