The Precursor Regulatory Workshop was held in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, State Administration Council Member Chairman of the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut said the State Administration Council reorganized the central committee with 19 members as per the 1993 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law and 11 working groups, precursor regulatory group and other region/state inspection teams to supervise the export/import of precursor, storage, trading and production under the law.
The precursor chemical control also plays a key role in reducing the drug production rate. It should work hard as per the motto “no precursor, no drug abuse, no drug users, no drug cases”. It should cooperate with international organizations in addition to regional countries in combatting drug problems.
The special missions are underway to accelerate the drug abuse prevention programmes and Operation 39 was launched across the nation from 1 February to 31 May 2023 to combat the illegal drug trade in Shan State.
During the Operation 39 period, the central committee organizes such workshops to discuss the weak points in combatting drug-related cases.
Then, Central Committee Secretary Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Chief of Myanmar Police Force Maj-Gen Zin Min Htet reported on information exchanges with neighbouring countries, regional countries, and international anti-doping agencies including UNODC, capacity building training, meeting, cooperation work with Tatmadaw, the department concerned and international organizations in combating drug cases as per the existing law and drug seizers in 2022-2023. Chairman of Precursor Regulatory Group Deputy Chief of Myanmar Police Force Police Maj-Gen Aung Naing Thu talked about the drug seizers in Yangon, Bago and Mandalay regions and other officials discussed recommendations to exchange information with international anti-doping agencies, systematic inspection of precursor and chemicals, seven types of precursor and 17chemicals that are used in producing drugs.
