Fire at Aung Mingala coach terminal kills 3 men, destroys some bus stations

According to the Department of Fire Services, a fire broke out at the Aung Mingala Highway Bus Terminal yesterday, resulting in the deaths of three men and the destruction of several bus stations.
The fire ignited at 5 am on 5 February. Fire engines from Mingaladon Township Fire Station, Insein Township Fire Station, North Okkalapa Township Fire Station, Waibagi Fire Station, and local auxiliary fire brigades and social assistance associations assisted in extinguishing the fire.
“The fire reportedly originated from an overheating in the air-cooler at the Golden Eagle bus station, but the exact cause will only be known after the relevant authorities complete their investigation,” stated a member of the social assistance association to The Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM). “Much of the damage was to the goods intended for delivery by the bus line stations, which were destroyed in the fire.”
The fire lasted approximately 50 minutes and was controlled by 5:48 am. — TWA/TKO
