Goods overflow at highway bus terminals in Yangon amid approaching Thingyan

Since the Thingyan holidays are approaching, the amount of goods delivered to Yangon has decreased, reducing the number of highway trucks entering Yangon. Therefore, there is a shortage of trucks in Yangon, according to truck owners.
There are no shipments of regular products from around the regions these days since depots and brokerage houses in Yangon will be closed for the Thingyan holidays. Truck owner Ko Htaw told the Global New Light of Myanmar that most of the trucks going to Yangon are parked in other regions.
Yangon highway bus terminals are faced with difficulties in shipping goods to other regions and states due to a small number of trucks and a large number of goods to be exported, most of the highway bus terminals stated.
Although traders in Yangon have offered to pay higher fares than usual to deliver goods to other regions and states, trucks from those areas cannot come to Yangon without any goods to be delivered to Yangon as higher fares do not cover their expenses. Therefore, highway bus terminals are receiving goods with care, depending on the number of trucks available.
Since traders from other regions and states have ordered goods from Yangon to sell during Thingyan holidays, the number of goods to be shipped from Yangon’s highway terminals to those areas is larger than usual.
If the goods cannot be shipped before the holiday, it is the responsibility of the highway bus terminal. Therefore, the goods to be shipped from the highway bus terminal are being accepted with caution. — TWA/CT
