Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illicit trade under the law.
Under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal trade special task force of Mandalay Region, on duty investigation team from 16th-mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint performed inspection tasks at 21st mile and 5th furlong point of PyinOoLwin-Mandalay road on 20 August. They seized 10 Compound Multi-gas detector Model BH-4, without official documents, at estimated value of K2 million and the action was taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal trade special task force of Kayin State, on duty team investigated at Kawkareik (Tadakyo) checkpoint on 20 August. The team seized 40 bags of Ammonium Nitrate, which is a restricted chemical, at an estimated value of K1.2 million from an express bus, which is driven from Myawady to Yangon. And foodstuffs and cosmetics, without official documents, at an estimated value of K16.705 million and a Sunlone express vehicle, worth K80 million carrying the goods. An inspection team checked them at the Thanlwin bridge combined checkpoint. They seized consumer goods at estimated value of K1.85 million, without official documents. Total worth of seizures amounted to K99.755 million and the action was taken under the Customs Law.
Furthermore, under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal trade special task force of Kayin State, a combined team searched. The team searched a truck, driven from Myawady to Yangon, at Kawkareik (Tadakyo) combined check point on 21 August. They found 320 boxes of ceramic tile worth K2.560 million without ID and foodstuffs estimate K2.500 million. The combined team found a truck at Myawady-Thingan-Nyinaung road. They seized foodstuffs worth K24 million without official documents and a Canter at estimated value of K15 million. Total estimated value K44,060,000 were seized and the action was taken under the Customs Law.Therefore, 11 cases (at estimated value of K145,815,000) were taken action on 20 and 21 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. —MNA
