Illegal foodstuffs, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

A combined team led by the Kachin State Department of Mines under the supervision of the Kachin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections on 5 January, according to information.
Officials found an illegal gold mining site and captured K26 million worth of related materials of illegal gold mining at Naungtalaw inn in Ayeyawady river in Waingmaw township. The action was taken under the Myanmar Mines Law.
Similarly, on 6 January, a combined team confiscated K7,765,000 worth of duty-free house paint jerricans and energy drinks from three vehicles (approximately K37 million) in Myawady township. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
In addition, an unregistered Toyota Mark II (estimated value of K7 million) was seized at the combined checkpoint on Monywa-Mandalay Road in Sagaing township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Therefore, eight arrests (approximately K77,765,000) were made on 5 and 6 January, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
