A combined on-duty team under the management of the Taninthayi Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted a surprise check on a warehouse in Inlaymyaing Industrial Zone in Myeik coastal township on 7 August and nabbed four kinds of goods (worth K14,460,500) including 1,019 kilogrammes of Polypropylene rope and 12,000 packs of Yum Yum instant noodles without official Import Licence. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
In addition, Myawady District Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force made unexpected inspections on a warehouse in Pharchaung Ward, Myawady township, on 7 August and captured two kinds of goods (worth K8 million) including 20,000 kilogrammes of cement ceiling board. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Similarly, Bhamo District Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force impounded a Mitsubishi canter (approximate value of K15 million), headed to Mandalay from Bhamo, carrying 133 bags of dried tea (made in China) without official documents at the 5th-Mile Sihae combined checkpoint in Bhamo township. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
An on-duty team seized 4,000 Vapes (worth K60 million) in card boxes that were piled on the side of road near the tollgate on the bypass in Lashio township and action was taken under Customs procedures.
The combined teams under Customs Department confiscated a Yutong express bus (approximate value of K30 million), headed to Yangon from Myawady, carrying 5,400 boxes of Lactasoy soy milk (worth K1.8 million) without official documents at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint, a Mitsubishi Fuso vehicle (estimated value of K35 million), travelling from Muse to Mandalay, carrying 1,700 kilogrammes of toilet spray nozzle head (worth K4,462,500) that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Yepu permanent checkpoint and three kinds of goods (worth K8.95 million) including 99 sets of Icom remote control microphone without official documents and six kinds of goods (worth K1,117,029) including four sets of SIDEL brand new spare part for blower that exceeded the 61 days of VPA from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk). The action was taken under Customs procedures.
As a result, a total of 12 arrests were made on 7 August, with an estimated value of K184,110,029, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
