Illegal teak and vehicles seized

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illegal trades across the country.
The on-duty inspection team made the inspections at the Hteedan container checkpoint on 23 May. They confiscated a Light Truck (RHD), that was over the ID period and was left by the owner (approximately K9,014,688). Police opened a case file under the Customs Law.
Similarly, on 24 May, the container terminal of Myanmar International Port (Thilawa) confiscated K423,110,383 worth of 28 vehicles which were over the ID period and were left by owners. The action was taken under the Customs Law.
Moreover, on 25 May, the Bago Region Forest Department inspection team captured K383,460 worth of 0.5810 tonne of illegal teak, and action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, from 23 to 25 May, 30 arrests were made at an estimated value of K432,508,531, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
