Illegal teak, foodstuffs, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

A special inspection team seized four Dong Feng prime mover heads (estimated value of 100 million) and four trailers (approximately K40 million), three prime mover heads (estimated value of K75 million) and three trailers (approximately K30 million) and a Dong Feng prime mover vehicle (estimated value of K20 million) that carried illegal goods at the Muse 105th-mile border trade zone on 23 May. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A combined team captured two kinds of shrimp (worth K3,279,870) including 366 kilogrammes of sea white shrimp without official documents that were piled up on the side of the road in Muyaung village on 24 May. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
In addition, a combined team led by the District Forest Department captured a total of 13.051 tonnes of illegal teak (worth K5,922,576) in Toungoo district on 26 May. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 17 arrests (estimated value of K274,202,446) were made on 23, 24 and 26 May, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
