Illegal teak, foodstuffs, industrial materials, consumer goods and vehicles confiscated

The on-duty teams under the supervision of the Shan State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force confiscated 690 second-hand mobile handsets (worth K34.5 million) without official Import documents at the Nantaw checkpoint in Muse township on 28 April, nine kinds of goods (including 20 ceiling lamp LED complete sets) worth K15,194,240 without official documents that were stacked on the side of the Sinphyu checkpoint and 40 kinds of goods (including 17 Hoco True wireless speakers) worth K77,964,500 without official documents from a Foton Toano mini-bus (approximate value of K30 million) heading to Taunggyi from Tachilek in Kengtung township on 29 April. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 29 April, the on-duty teams captured 3.25 kilogrammes of bird’s nests worth K10 million without official documents from luggage at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk). The action was taken under Customs procedures.

On 30 April, an X-Tray car worth about K12 million without official documents was seized in Shwebo township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
On 1 May, a total of 3.290 tonnes of illegal teak worth K945,600 was captured in Toungoo district and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, seven arrests (estimated value of K180,604,340) were made on three consecutive days from 28 to 30 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
