Over K7.1 bln worth of drugs captured in Tachilek township

A total of 475.3 kilogrammes of heroin blocks, Ecstasy tablets and Happy Water worth over K7.1 billion were captured in Tachilek township in Shan State, Myanmar Police Force stated.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team consisting of members of the Anti-Drug Police Force searched a Toyota HiAce car at the Meyang combined checkpoint in Tachilek township at 9:30 am on 28 April. The car, with Saw Shwe behind the wheel, was heading to Tachilek from Namsang. The police captured a total of 475.3 kg of 1,358 heroin blocks that were hidden from goods in the car.
After interrogation, the police arrested Aung Soe who participated in trafficking drugs in Tachilek at 11:30 am. In addition, the police seized 235 Ecstasy tablets and 315 grammes of Happy Water from Sai Nuam (aka) Htun Lin Oo in Tachilek.
Legal action has been taken against the offenders and an investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators of the crime chain. — MNA/MKKS
