Illegal timbers and unregistered vehicles seized

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illegal trades across the country.
An inspection team led by Traffic Police Force under the Ayeyawady Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted the inspections at the Koezu Checkpoint in Pathein Township. A Toyota Ractis vehicle estimated at K2,500,000 without a vehicle registration certificate was seized on 6 May. Police opened a file on this case under the Export/Import Law.

Similarly, a combined inspection team led by the Region Forest Department under the supervision of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized K102,300 worth of 0.6820 tonne of illegal teak in the Saiya reserved forest in Yedashe Township of Toungoo District and charged them under the Forest Law.
In addition, Police Force seized two unregistered Dump trucks estimated at K8,000,000 and action was taken under the Export/Import Law.
The Forest Department inspection team confiscated K10,861,850 worth of 12.3904 tonnes of illegal timbers and action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, on 6 and 9 May, six arrests were made (an estimated value of K21,464,150), according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
