Illegal timbers, animal food, consumer goods, industrial materials, jade products and vehicles confiscated

On 28 October, an on-duty team carrying out routine inspection work under the management of the Customs Department captured K1,428,000 worth of seven items of goods including aluminium materials without import licences from a container at Asia World Port Terminal Container Checkpoint. The action is taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, under the management of the Kachin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force a combined team composing members of the Tatmadaw and Bhamo Township Customs Department confiscated 397.3 kilogrammes of illegal jade bracelets and jade beads worth K63,568,000 from two vehicles (estimated value of K6 million) at the 5-Mile Checkpoint of Bhamo township. The action is taken under the Customs Procedures.
Moreover, a total of 2.7633 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K193,431 were captured in the Thaboung township of Pathein district. The action is taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, on 31 October, a combined team led by Yangon International Airport Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted a surprise inspection of the suitcases and seized K35,672,700 worth of cosmetics without official documents. The action is taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 1 November, at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint 60 bags of animal food worth K1.5 million without official documents were captured from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action is taken under the Customs Procedures.
Also, at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint of Mon State, a combined team confiscated 60 cartons of spray paint worth K1,920,000 that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Dongfeng Tractor Head and a trailer (estimated value of K120 million). The action is taken under the Customs Procedures.
A combined team captured a total of 5.3130 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K1,027,116 in the Yenwe forest reserve in Kyauktaga township of Nyaunglebin district. The action is taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 12 arrests (approximately K231,309,247) were made on 28, 30, 31 October and 1 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
