Illegal timbers, consumer goods, raw chemicals and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Mandalay Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, an on-duty team conducted inspections at the Latpanhla-Singu Temporary Checkpoint on 9 November.
Officials confiscated 4.929 tonnes of illegal teak doors, windows, and sawn teak worth K5,871,520 from two Nissan Diesel vehicles (estimated value of K70 million). The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, officials led by the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Yangon International Ports nabbed K1,155,000 worth of consumer goods that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Asia World Port Terminal Container Checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
On 10 November, an on-duty team made inspections at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint and captured K19,818,750 worth of flowerpots, plastic resins and car engines without official documents from a Mitsubishi Fuso car with a trailer (estimated value of K80 million). The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Therefore, nine arrests (at an estimated value of K176,845,270) were made on 9 and 10 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
