Illegal timbers, feedstuffs, foodstuffs, auto parts and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Customs Department, an on-duty team conducted inspections at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint.
On 8 November, officials captured K19,437,600 worth of motorbike parts that were different from those mentioned in the Import Declaration (ID). The action was taken under customs procedures.
On 9 November, officials nabbed 10,200 litres of cooking oil and 100 cartons of Lipo juice worth K32,550,000 from a Higer Bus (estimated value of K70 million) at the Thanlwin Bridge checkpoint in Mon State. The action was taken under customs procedures.
In addition, officials captured 2,300 kilogrammes of animal foods worth K2,898,000 without official documents at the Myawady (OSS) trade zone. The action was taken under customs procedures.
Similarly, a total of 24.9640 tonnes of illegal timber was captured in Minbya, Taungup and Kyaukphyu townships. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Afterwards, a total of 1.2476 tonnes of illegal timber was confiscated in Zilon village of Myothit township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 9 and 10 November, a combined team led by Region Forest Department seized a total of 72.7452 tonnes of illegal timber worth K28,355,276 in Toungoo and Nyaunglebin districts and action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 10 November, an inspection team confiscated 1,205 extra cartons of ice cream worth K15,183,000 from an Isuzu Freezer Box truck (estimated value of K50 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon and the action was taken under the customs procedures.
Therefore, 14 arrests (at an estimated value of K220,298,752) were made on three consecutive days from 8 to 10 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
