Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, consumer goods, electronics, vehicles, and unregistered motorboats seized

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Chairman of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, a combined team made inspections on 26 June, according to information.
They confiscated 3.1618 tonnes of illegal teak worth K2,086,788 in Kanma township and 13 unregistered wooden motor boats (approximately K23.7 million) and 14 small boats (approximately K6.4 million) in the Ayeyawady River near Kyontaw village of Magway township. The effective action was taken under the Water Resources and River Law.
Similarly, a team led by the Hpa-an Township Customs Department made inspections at the Thanlwin Bridge combined checkpoint under the Kayin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
They captured K3.1 million worth of electronics without any official documents from a Mitsubishi Canter car (approximately K15 million) heading from Naunglon to Hlegu and K10,552,000 worth of foodstuffs and consumer goods without any official documents from a Mitsubishi Canter car (approximately K15 million) heading from Hpa-an township to Kyonpae village of Kyakalay road.
In addition, at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint, officials captured K1,680,000 worth of various sandals that exceeded the number of the Import Declaration (ID) from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon on 27 June.

Afterwards, the ThingaNyinaung combined checkpoint captured cosmetics and foodstuffs worth K16,812,000, old electronics worth K2.15 million that showed no official documents from a Yutong bus (approximately K25 million) and foodstuffs and consumer goods worth K2,185,000 from a Toyota Voxy car (approximately K2 million). The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, the inspection team conducted the inspections near the Kengtung University in Kengtung Township and captured bags of Chinese detergent powder worth K8,796,000. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
A total of 17.1422 tonnes of illegal timbers at an estimated value of K5,452,546 were seized in Toungoo district under the supervision of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 28 June.
Therefore, 38 arrests estimated at K139,914,334 were made on three consecutive days from 26 to 28 June, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
