SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
The on-duty team under the supervision of the Customs Department made inspections.
Officials confiscated K300,000 worth of a DJI Phatom4 Drone without official documents from a suitcase at the Yangon International Airport on 15 September and K9,338,700 worth of China-made dried tea without official documents at the warehouse of Yangon International Airport on 20 September. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, on 19 and 20 September, an on-duty inspection team nabbed 3,230 kilogrammes of steel pipes and 254 solar panels worth K37,368,870 that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from two containers at the Myanmar International Terminals Thilawa (MITT), 40 Brand new car body fits (KIA brand) worth K200 million that did not match the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at Dry port (KM) Warehouse and 50 Roland AC Adaptors worth K630,000 that were not declared in Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Hteedan Container Checkpoint. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, on 22 September, the Yadanabon Bridge Combined Checkpoint seized 250 bags of illegal charcoal worth K750,000 and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Afterwards, the combined inspection teams led by Bago Region Forest Department captured a total of 98.0168 tonnes of illegal timber worth K49,970,070 in the Toungoo, Nyaunglebin and Nattalin districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
A total of 7.537 tonnes of illegal timber worth K421,022 was seized in Thandwe township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 12 arrests estimated at K298,778,662 were made on 15, 19, 20 and 22 September, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
