Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, electronics, vehicles and fuel oil seized

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Chairman of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, combined inspection teams made inspections in Myeik Township, Taninthayi Region on 10 June and seized 803 bags of cement without payment for Customs duties at an estimated value of K35,485,000 and effective action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, inspections were carried out at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint under the management of the Customs Department on 11 June.
A port on-duty inspection team seized 80 cartons of edible oil without official documents at an estimated value of K1,760,000 from a passenger bus heading from Myawady to Yangon.
On the same day, 100 rice cookers worth K1 million, which were not mentioned in the import declaration ID, from a truck heading from Myawady to Yangon at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Checkpoint. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, the on-duty team from the 16th-Mile checkpoint under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections on 12 June.
A total of 2.8596 tonnes of illegal teak and ironwood timber (approximately K2,387,680) from two vehicles worth K46 million were seized and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, a combined team led by the Forest Department conducted inspections under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force in the Bago Region.
A total of 2.8014 tonnes of illegal timbers estimated at K267,582 were seized in Toungoo District on 12 June and 4.7906 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K1,873,486 in Toungoo, Pyay and Thayawady Districts on 13 June. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, three unregistered vehicles estimated at K9 million were seized under the management of the Anti-Trafficking Task Force in Sagaing Township on 13 June and the action was prosecuted under the Import and Export Law.
Afterwards, 801 gallons of fuel oil estimated at K8,766,000 were confiscated in Kalay township and the action was taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
The patrol on-duty team captured 90 cartons of the made-in-China beers that showed no official documents at approximately K1,080,000 at the Yepu Permanent Checkpoint in Shan State. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, 15 arrests estimated at K107,619,748, were made on four consecutive days from 10 to 13 June, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
