Illegal timbers, industrial materials, consumer goods, foodstuffs and vehicles confiscated

A combined team supervised by the Kachin State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force impounded a Dongfeng truck (approximately worth K15 million) carrying 5,000 kilogrammes of ammonium nitrate worth K5 million without official documents on the outskirts of Namti on Shwebo-Myitkyina road and a total of 12,640 kilogrammes of ammonium nitrate worth K12.64 million without official documents in Mokaung township on 17 January. The action was taken under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Law.
During inspections on the same day, the combined team managed by the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force captured two Mitsubishi Fuso trucks (approximately worth K100 million) carrying six kinds of goods worth K11.906 million, including 21 toy cars and 4,000 kilogrammes of toys that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID), at the Ywathagyi Dry Port on 17 January. The action was conducted under the Customs procedures.
On 18 January, the combined teams under the Taninthayi Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized 370 kilogrammes of various kinds of illegal fishes and 850 kilogrammes of illegal Parkay fishe valued at K532,500 at the Natthamee Yaytwin island in Myeik township and a total of 3.816 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K572,520 at the Khamaukgyi checkpoint in Kawthaung township. The action was conducted under the Myanmar Marine Fisheries Law.
Ten arrests were made on 17 and 18 January, with an estimated value of K145.651 million, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
