Illegal timbers, lead (metal), foodstuffs, unregistered motorbikes and vehicles seized

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Tanintharyi Region of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, a combined inspection team made inspections on 20 June, according to information.
They seized 2,901 visses of illegally stored lead (metal) worth K159,555,000 at the Myitta Yinaye Parahita monastery compound in Shanchaung ward of Kalwin village-tract of Myeik District and effective action is being taken under Myanmar Mines Law.
Similarly, on the same day, a combined inspection team confiscated foodstuffs without official documents at an estimated value of K985,000 at the Phayagyi Tollgate and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, on 21 and 22 June, a total of 2.9912 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K1,694,736 in the Bago and Thayawady districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, inspections led by the Myanmar Police Force were carried out under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 21 June.
An unregistered Canda motorbike worth K200,000 and an unregistered Toyota Crown car worth K4 million in Shwebo township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Therefore, seven arrests estimated at K166,434,736 were made on three consecutive days from 20 to 22 June, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
