Officials check confiscated illegal timbers in Bago Region.

The Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force made inspections at the Mawlamyine railway station on 23 March and confiscated various sizes of car tyres worth K32,848,000 without official documents from freight trains. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 26 March, the Lashio Township Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force at the Yepu permanent checkpoint captured an unregistered Nissan Diesel truck (approximately K8 million) and the action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 1 April, an inspection team from Monywa police station seized 50 barrels of kerosene worth K25 million without official documents at the industrial zone in Monywa township. The action was taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
On 3 April, an on-duty team of the Customs Department at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal container checkpoint nabbed 53,525 kilogrammes of wood furniture screw worth K67,441,500 without the import licence from a container. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A total of 22.03 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K10,963,554 was seized in the Bago district and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, five arrests (estimated value of K144,253,054) were made on 23 and 26 March and 1 and 3 April, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
