Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to control illegal trade under the law.
Under the supervision of the Customs Department, an on-duty team performed inspections at the Container Checkpoint of the Myanmar Industrial Port, Yangon Region and seized clothes and consumer goods with an unregistered import licence (an estimated value of K87,943,820) on 28 July. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, rice mill spare parts without official documents (approximately K1,470,500) were confiscated from an Express bus departed from Mawlamyine to Yangon, while a combined team led by the head of the Customs Department made random checks near the Phayagyi Tollgate, with the supervision of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force. The team also seized the Yutong Express bus worth around K40 million, which transported the unauthorized goods. The arrest worth K41,470,500 was made and the action was charged under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, an inspection was made by the on-duty team at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Joint Checkpoint, with the guidance of the Kayin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 29 July and impounded floor carpets (an estimated value of K2.1 million) that exceeded the import declaration-ID from a truck heading from Myawaddy to Yangon. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In the same way, a truck heading from Myawaddy to Yangon was captured with various handbags (approximately K3,561,250) that surpassed the import declaration-ID at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint in Mon State, while the on-duty team conducted inspections under the management of the Customs Department. A Mitsubishi Fuso truck loading the seized handbags, worth around K20 million was also impounded by the team and an arrest worth K23,561,250 was made. The action is being charged under the Customs Procedures.
Supervised by the Sagaing Region Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, an inspection team led by the Myanmar Police Force made inspections near the Tadahtake Checkpoint of Karboe Village in Kanbalu Township and seized a Canda 125 type motorcycle without a licence (approximately K0.3 million). The effective action was made under the Customs Law.
Thus, seven arrests worth approximately K155,375,570 were made on 28 and 29 July, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.—MNA
