Installation of yellow stickers in Yangon taxis now 75% complete

Taxi Yellow stickers

The installation of yellow stickers on 75 percent of city taxis has been completed, according to Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC).

For three months from 1 November to 31 January, YRTC will bear the cost of installing stickers on city taxis and after three months, action will be taken in accordance with the law.

42,000 city taxis in Yangon region had their yellow stickers installed.

Previously, only Yangon-licensed taxis were required to have yellow side stickers, but now, the regulation will also apply to taxis licensed in other cities, said U Lyan Cin Mang, joint secretary of YRTC.

This inclusion is aimed to be fair to all taxis as many of them are licensed in other towns, he said.
