Literary luminary Daw Kywe Kywe, Pakokku U Ohn Pe Lifetime Achievement Awardee, passes away

According to Daw Cho Cho Latt, daughter of the Pakokku U Ohn Pe Lifetime Award for Literary Achievement recipient Sayamagyi Daw Kywe Kywe, who was eligible for a respect-paying ceremony of the Myanmar Writers’ Association, she passed away at her house located in Dagon Myothit (East) Township at 6:15 pm on 19 November.
At the time of her passing, Sayamagyi Daw Kywe Kywe was 91 years old. She was one of the writers eligible for a respect-paying ceremony of the Myanmar Writers’ Association and the honourable patron of the Myittatakun Association and the Writers’ Association of Dagon Myothit (East) Township.
Daw Cho Cho Latt stated, “Sayamagyi died of old age at 6:15 pm on 19 November. She was in the hospital last week and came home as she felt better, and then she passed away.”
Sayamagyi Daw Kywe Kywe received the Pakokku U Ohn Pe Lifetime Award for Literary Achievement in 2019, and a collection of short stories titled “Pantakar aphwint and other short stories” was published in commemoration of her 90th birthday.
She joined the literary arena with her short story “Moungtan”, published in Linn Yone Magazine in March 1951. She continued to write numerous works until her last moments, including books like “Kyamatoh mainmathar”, “Kayee Phyatthan Kabyar Lann”, and “The Spirits of Heroes”, among others. — ASH/TRKM
