Intensive search underway for missing Myanmar fisherman in Malaysia

A Myanmar fishery worker from the Taninthayi Region reportedly died after he fell into the sea in Malaysia, and searches have been carried out with massive rescue forces to find his body, said an official from the Myanmar social relief association (Malaysia).
The middle-aged fishery worker is Ko Nyi Nyi, a native of Shat Pone village in Taninthayi Region’s Palaw township dropped into the sea after being hit by a wave while he was working onboard in Pahang province on the early morning of 8 January.
“At dawn on 8 January, he was working onboard when the ship was going to approach the dock and a wave hit unexpectedly from the back, and he dropped into the sea. Both Malaysian rescue teams and boats of our friends have been searching for his body. We haven’t found it yet. Ten vessels have been used in searches of the body,” he said.
The victim had a wife and three children and was reportedly known that he had been working in Malaysia for ten years. Information about his death was conveyed to his family. — Thit Taw/ZS/ED
