A meeting on implementation of edible oil special zone and expansion of long-staple cotton planation in progress in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

A coordination meeting on implementation of edible oil special zone and expansion of long-staple cotton planation was held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation yesterday.
First, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung instructed the in charges of zones to conduct ground surveys in order to meet the targeted plantation acres and production rate of edible crops. The officials of departments concerned also need to supervise to achieve exact figures of sown acreage and production rate to mange the policies systematically.
Then, the Union minister made proper instructions regarding the need of water and agro chemicals in expanding the long staple cotton plantation, technical assistance to harvest the cottons, reviewing of local production rate and consumption to expand the plantation in respective financial year.
The directors-general and zones in charge reported on the ongoing work processes and future work plans.
The oil crops special zones are being established in seven regions and states in 2024-2025 financial year. — MNA/KTZH
