Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung attended a videoconferencing coordination meeting at the Jade Hall of the Ministry yesterday morning to prepare for resuming international tourism.
At the meeting, Union Minister Dr Htay Aung said that arrangements should be made to be smooth in operation for international tourists as international airlines will be allowed to resume regular flights on 17 April. Hotels are also prepared in accordance with the Health and Safety Protocol to provide health and safety services ensuring the health and safety of tourists.
“In case of any health issue, it is necessary to coordinate in advance what to do and state and region destination management organizations (DMOs) need preparations to provide safe accommodation for tourists in their destinations,” the Union minister added.
Local orders and directives to be followed by tourists need to be issued on a prior basis. Efforts must be made to provide a wide range of information that tourists should know. He urged that the state and region branch officials should discuss and make suggestions on the issues to be facilitated when international tourists visit Myanmar.
The Union minister said that all hotels and quarantine hotels in states and regions need to have the health and safety certification and set up information counters systematically in order to provide necessary information to tourists in real-time.
Then, the Union minister called on officials to put the experiences of the health and safety training of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism into practical services for the convenience of tourists. He underscored the need to coordinate and work together with related departments and agencies for the tourists visiting Myanmar.
The directors-general, the deputy directors-general and officials discussed the preparation issues and the Union minister gave necessary instructions before closing the coordination meeting. — MNA
