MoHT Union Minister joins Awareness Programme on ASEAN Tourism Standards, meets newly-elected EC members of MTEA (2021-2023) online

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung joined the virtual Awareness Programme on ASEAN Tourism Standards yesterday.
During the event, the Union minister talked about the activities being implemented under the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (ATSP 2016-2025) to ensure a highly competitive destination offering a unique, diverse, ASEAN tourism experience and a contribution towards the sustainable socio-economic well-being of the ASEAN people in 2025, 69 strategic plans set according to the study conducted in 2021, development in ASEAN tourism industry before the outbreak of COVID-19 and also in Myanmar starting 2011 and the effectiveness of Eight ASEAN Tourism Standards and ASEAN MRA-TP.
The Union minister also said that the talks on ASEAN Tourism Standards have been organized in main tourist destination sites of Myanmar 10 times since 2016 and the county won 99 tourism awards. The hotels and tourism entrepreneurs should follow the instructions of the COVID-19 central committee and the Health Ministry in addition to the ASEAN tourism standards.
Then, the respective in-charges discussed the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (2016-2025), sustainable ASEAN tourism standards with public participation, ASEAN public toilet standards, ASEAN community-based tourism standards and the MRA-TP.
The programme will also be held on 12 March.
The Union minister also met elected executive committee members for 2021-2023 of the Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association via videoconferencing on the same noon.
During the meeting, the Union minister highlighted the cooperation works for Myanmar tourism industry development, preparations to be ready for tourist arrivals and further collaboration to ensure the tourism development. — MNA
